Computer Center closing, reduced hours at Pioneer Room
The Escondido Public Library's Computer Center (237 South Kalmia) will be closed as of July 1st due to budget concerns and short-staffing at the library. In addition, the hours of the Pioneer Room, the library's local history center, will be reduced to 8 hours a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) For more information, please see our press release:

Mattie Stepanek dies
Mattie Stepanek, the 13-year-old who published 5 books of poetry, died yesterday from complications of muscular dystrophy. Mattie's books spent many weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list and were an inspiration to many. Read more in the New York Times article:
