Friends of the Library book sale
The Friends of the Escondido Library's bookstore (located on the first floor of the main library) will be having its "End of Summer Sale" from September 6th through 13th. All books will be half price (except Dover and special collections titles). If you haven't visited the store yet, the sale will be a great chance to check out the selection and take advantage of the incredibly low prices.

Friends Annual Tea and Author Event
Escondido author Donald F. Chmelka is the featured guest speaker at the Friends of the Escondido Library Annual Tea next Sunday, September 14th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the main library's Turrentine Room. After a brief meeting of Board nominations and elections, Chmelka will discuss the evolution of his new book which chronicles the journey of his great-great-grandftaher's immigration from Moravia in Eastern Europe to a farm in Nebraska in 1871. This event is free and open to the public.

Grape Day Festival
Remember to visit the Grape Day Festival here in Escondido this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Grape Day Park. Buy one of the 2004 Pioneer Room calendars or stop by and visit our Bookmobile while you're there. Here's more info from the North County Times:

First Thursday Concert tonight
Join us at the main library to night for a performance by the Gennaro Trio at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd floor in the Turrentine Room.

Madonna's children's book out September 15th
Madonna's book, 'The English Roses' will be released September 15th.
