Road Closure - El Norte Parkway
The City of Escondido will close El Norte Parkway between Rose Street and Rimrock Drive from Tuesday, May 6, 2003 through Tuesday May 27, 2003. The detours will be clearly signed indicating the route to follow from El Norte Parkway onto Midway Drive to Lincoln Parkway to Rose Street and back onto El Norte Parkway.

Young artists on display at Escondido Municipal Gallery
Stop by the Escondido Municipal Gallery between now and May 11th to see artwork of local children from kindergarten to 8th grade. May Calendar of Library Events
Make sure to check out the May calendar of events for both the Escondido Main Library and the East Valley Branch. Highlights include today's First Thursday concert with Pete Atilano, the First Tuesday local author series with Carolyn Wheat, and the Children's Pet Show at the main library. At the branch, check out this month's book discussions and the teen movie event. And as always, lots of storytimes are planned at both library locations.

Nazi Book Burnings Museum Exhibit opens today
"Wherever they burn books, they will also, in the end, burn people." - Heinrich Heine
The Nazi book burnings were part of their cleansing of German culture during World War II. The Holocaust Museum opens their "Fighting the Fires of Hate: America and the Nazi Book Burnings" exhibit today in Washington D.C. Free Scoop of Baskin Robbins Ice Cream

Water Conservation
Visit the City of Escondido web site to get tips for conserving water. Just because we have exceeded our average 10 inches of rain this year doesn't mean that we have made up for last year's record low of 3 inches of rain. Do your part to help Escondido conserve water and lower water prices.

Low Cost Rabies Vaccination & Dog Licensing
The County Department of Animal Services is hosting a low-cost rabies vaccination and dog licensing clinic this Saturday, May 3rd in Kit Carson Park at the Ray Love Picnic Area from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The rabies vaccination is $5 and late fees will be waived for registration. Dogs must be leashed and cats must be in carriers.
