Public Hearing for North County Transit Service Changes
Routes affected would be 101, 306, 308, 309, 313, 315, 347, 386, 387, 403, 413, 420, 441. Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, May 15th at 2:00 p.m. at NCTD's Board Room at 810 Mission Avenue, Oceanside. Thai New Year celebration
Join the celebration this Sunday, April 27th in Kit Carson Park. Festivities include the procession of the Buddha, classical Thai music and dance, beauty pageant. Taste some Thai food and pick up souvenirs while you are there. 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

City budget cuts and the library

Cyber cafe to open in Downtown Escondido

Attention Escondido Pet Owners

Entertainment by Montgomery Middle School Mariachi and the Ballet Folklorico Xochiquetzalli, Mexican food, free books and a raffle are all part of the fun.

Who won the Mini Cooper?
Tom and Julie Carroll of Escondido won the Mini Cooper in the raffle at our National Library Week Celebration on Saturday, April 12th. The raffle helped to raise about $40,000 for the library's expansion fund. For more information, check out the North County Times article about the winners.

Escondido Golf Tournament

The City of Escondido and Sempra Energy will be hosting the ninth annual charity golf tournament, “FORE…ESCONDIDO!” at The Vineyard at Escondido Golf Course, on May 13, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Proceeds from the tournament will support the Community Services Department’s “Share a Dream” Scholarship Program. This program provides opportunities for Escondido youth from low-income families to participate in recreational activities.

The fee is $95 per person and the final deadline for all entries is May 7, 2003. The entry fee includes: green fees and cart, dinner and drinks, tee package, a chance to win raffle prizes, and awards for the longest drive, closest to the pin, and best team scores. There will be a putting contest and a Hole-in-One contest to win a vehicle sponsored by Heller Ford.

Palomar Energy Project Public Hearings
The Committee overseeing the Application for Certification for the proposed Palomar Energy Project will hold evidentiary hearings as follows:

The Palomar Energy Project, proposed by Sempra Energy Resources, would be a 546-megawatt, natural gas-fired, combined-cycle facility located on a 20-acre site within the Escondido Research and Technology Center industrial park.

Children's Pet Show Registration has begun
The Escondido Public Library (main location) is hosting a pet show on Saturday, May 10th from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. on the front lawn. Children are encouraged to pre-register for this event by visiting the Children's Department or by calling: 760-839-4837.
